Introduction...

I've divided the page into loose subject categories that you can leap right into, or you can just wander through the whole thing. I'll show you some woodworking projects I've finished. I have some projects in progress or simply in planning stages. I rebuilt a couple player pianos and some old hand-cranked phonographs . I had a nicely equipped workshop in Maryland and now have a bigger and better one in Pensylvania. I'm also interested in (read, collector of) old tools . We built our own home and we're pretty proud of that. We tried re-habbing an old row house in Baltimore. And last, there's a little information about who we are.

A little about the logo. When I was laid off in 1992 the aerospace industry was going through a belt-tightening period. Having been a manager for a while (which sapped any engineering skills I ever had) I figured I might need a back-up line of work. I have a workshop and some skills and I figured if I got real hungry I could possibly turn a dollar with some woodworking. We live in Highland, Maryland and our home is a New England salt box. I combined the two to make the Highland House logo and made up some business cards. I renewed the trade name license a while back, so I guess I've been in business almost 30 years now! With a little luck the hobbies and entertainment pursuits will remain just that, and I'll not need to put a monetary value on my efforts.
